| dc.description.abstract | The paper examines the phenomenon of the affective filter—originally conceptualized by Stephen Krashen—within the specific context of intensive foreign language training for military personnel, identifying key psycholinguistic barriers and pedagogical strategies for overcoming them. Unlike conventional academic environments, military education involves adult learners operating within rigid hierarchical structures, high-stakes evaluation frameworks (such as NATO STANAG 6001 certification), and chronic operational stress. These factors frequently elevate foreign language classroom anxiety, fear of negative evaluation, and status-related inhibition—particularly among senior officers and combat-experienced personnel with low baseline language proficiency. A heightened affective filter significantly impedes comprehensible input processing, blocks working memory, and delays spontaneous speech production. To mitigate these challenges, the study proposes a targeted linguodidactic framework incorporating psychologically safe simulation environments, gamified Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), peer-collaborative tactical briefings, and AI-assisted conversational practice that allows for error correction without social stigma. The findings demonstrate that systematically lowering the affective filter accelerates communicative confidence, enhances retention of specialized terminology, and improves overall performance under STANAG 6001 testing conditions. | uk_UA |
