The article analyzes the current state and development prospects of
medical tourism based on the Pirogov Clinical Sanatorium ("Kuyalnik" Sanatorium).
The uniqueness of the natural resource potential of the Kuyalnik Estuary is revealed,
in particular the balneological properties of its sulfide-silt mud and brine, which are
identical to the resources of the Dead Sea. A comparative analysis of management
strategies between the domestic facility and the Israeli "Dead Sea" cluster was
conducted, which allowed for the identification of critical infrastructural and service
gaps.
The authors conducted a comprehensive analysis of the natural resources and
operations of the 'Kuyalnik' sanatorium, identified the real and potential opportunities
of this medical tourism facility, and factored in the application of peloids and brine
procedures across relevant medical fields based on the resort's profile. Furthermore,
they demonstrated the efficacy of such treatment, proposed specific pathways to
overcome crisis phenomena, and outlined promising directions for the sanatorium's
future development.
Key problematic aspects were identified: ecological degradation of the estuary,
deterioration of the material and technical base, insufficient digitalization, and lack of
international certification of medical services. The necessity of implementing a publicprivate partnership model and expanding the rehabilitation profile of the facility in the
context of post-war recovery is substantiated. The author proposes a set of measures to
modernize the service component and marketing strategy to increase the
competitiveness of the sanatorium in the European medical tourism market.
According to the authors, the implementation of the proposed ecological and
service-oriented solutions, combined with leveraging Israel's experience and the
rational utilization of unique resources across medical fields, will allow the 'Kuyalnik'
sanatorium to take its rightful place in the global medical tourism hierarchy.
