The development of active learning methods is the main trend in the training of managers. The case-study method can be considered the dominant technology for training people who are focused on practical work in the business sector. Foreign business schools and universities have accumulated considerable experience in the use and application of this method in various training programs and various courses and disciplines. The purpose of this article is to study the case-study method, its advantages in training in general and in management training in particular. Currently, in higher education, training is aimed at creating a competent specialist. The achievement of this goal is undoubtedly facilitated by the use of cases. The case method makes it possible to optimally combine theory and practice, develop skills to work with a variety of information sources. Students do not receive ready-made knowledge, and learn to extract it yourself. Decisions made in a life situation
are memorized faster than learning rules. In addition, the process of solving the problem outlined in the case is a creative process of knowledge, which implies the collective nature of cognitive activity. The main change in society, affecting the situation in the field of education, is the acceleration of the development of society. As a result, the higher school should prepare its graduates for life, about which the school itself knows little. In today’s fastpaced world, an increase in the volume of knowledge no longer means an increase in the level of education. The key to the success of the educational system is the competence approach, that is, student-centered education. Moreover, the case method is the first and very significant step towards a competence approach in higher education.
