Transformation of medical education in Ukraine in war conditions: experience and results of implementation of the electronic journal system on the example of the department of urology and nephrology of the Odessa national medical university

Abstract

Universities around the world are looking for effective ways to improve the quality of education and ensure the maximum development of students. One of the key factors of students' success is the ability to control their own educational activities and track their progress in education. The implementation of an electronic journal (EJ) of applicants' success can be an effective tool for achieving these goals. A very important aspect of the implementation of EH is the openness, transparency of the assessment of the quality of students' knowledge, the level of their competences and preparation for classes. The Odesa National Medical University (ONMedU) has created an automated system for managing the educational process and EJ, which, in general, is used to control and analyze academic performance and attendance at lectures and classes by all departments, and, in particular, the department of urology and nephrology. In this work, we will share the first experience and investigate the process of implementing EJ at the Department of Urology and Nephrology, as a local unit of ONMedU, and analyze its impact on the quality of education and the development of students of our department. We will also consider the advantages and disadvantages of using an electronic journal, which, in our opinion, are significant, and provide recommendations for possible further development and improvement of EJ.
