Epilepsy is a chronic disease of multifactorial etiology, characterized by repeated episodes of paroxysmal brain dysfunction caused by sudden random and excessive stimulation of neurons.
Purpose of the study. The aim of our research was to study the state of nonspecific immunity and the degree of bacterial contamination of the oral cavity of preschool children with epilepsy, according to the results of deter-mining biochemical markers of oral fluid.
Materials and methods Oral fluid was taken in 7-9 years old children with epilepsy and in children of the same age without somatic pathology. Antioxidant defense was studied by determining the activity of the catalase enzyme, microbial contamination of the oral cavity was evaluated by urease activity, and the level of nonspecific immunity was determined by lysozyme activity. The activity of the elastase enzyme was studied as a marker of inflammation of the tissues of the oral cavity.
Results. Conclusions. The indicators showed in the work point out a decrease in local immunity of the oral cavity, the development of the inflammatory process in the soft tissues of the oral mucosa and periodontium on the background of a sharp decrease in the level of antioxidant protection of the oral cavity. The data obtained neces-sitate a further study of the pathogenesis of dental pathology of the oral cavity in children suffering from epilepsy, as well as the need to develop pathogenetically targeted drug correction in this category of patients
Эпилепсия – хроническое заболевание многофакторной этиологии, характеризующееся повторяющимися эпизодами пароксизмальной дисфункции головного мозга, вызванной внезапным беспорядочным и чрезмерным возбуждением нейронов.
Целью нашего исследования являлось изучение состояния неспецифического иммунитета и степени бактериальной обсеменнности полости рта детей дошкольного возраста, страдающих эпилепсией, по результатам определения биохимических маркеров ротовой жидкости.
Материалы и методы. Был осуществлен забор ротовой жидкости у детей, больных эпилепсией возраста 7-9 лет и у детей того же возраста без соматической патологии. Антиоксидантную защиту изу-чали, определяя активность фермента каталазы, микробное обсеменение полости рта оценивали по активности уреазы, уровень неспецифического иммунитета – по активности лизоцима. В качестве маркера воспаления тканей ротовой полости исследовали активность фермента эластазы.
Выводы. Указанные в работе показатели свидетельствуют о снижении местного иммунитета полости рта, развитии воспалительного процесса в мягких тканях слизистой оболочки полости рта и пародонта на фоне резкого снижения уровня антиоксидантной защиты полости рта. Полученные данные обусловливают необходимость дальнейшего изучения патогенеза стоматологической патологии полости рта у детей, страдающих эпилепсией, а также о необходимости разработки патогенетически направленной медикаментозной коррекции у данной категории пациентов.
