The article discusses the essence of the concept of “information and communication competence”. Its significance in the professional development of students of medical high school is revealed. The essence and
structure of the information and communication competence of future family doctors has been determined. Based
on the theoretical analysis of various scientific approaches to determining the structure of information and
communication competence, four components of information and communication competence of future family
doctors are identified: motivational, cognitive, activity and personal which are determined by clearly defined
criteria and indicators.
