Express methods for qualitative analysis of felodipine as a tool for pharmaceutical quality control

Abstract

Felodipine is a vascular-selective dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, which is widely used in the pharmacotherapy of arterial hypertension. The significant presence of generic felodipine preparations on the pharmaceutical market necessitates reliable and prompt control of the authenticity of the active substance at various stages of pharmaceutical circulation. Pharmacopoeial methods of analysis (HPLC, IR-spectroscopy) are characterized by high accuracy, but are laborious and require complex analytical equipment, which limits their use for express quality control. In this regard, the development of alternative express methods for qualitative identification of felodipine is relevant.
