Відкриття вищих жіночих медичних курсів в Одесі та підсумки першого навчального року: урочистості та труднощі

Abstract

У статті висвітлено відкриття у 1910 р. Одеських вищих жіночих медичних курсів, а також проаналізовано труднощі, з якими зіткнулися як адміністрація закладу, так і слухачки протягом першого року навчання. Подано відомості про урочистості з нагоди відкриття курсів 26 вересня 1910 р., охарактеризовано кількісний склад і конфесійний розподіл першого набору слухачок, розглянуто їхнє матеріальне становище та проблеми фінансового забезпечення курсів. Звернуто увагу на те, що однією з причин фінансових труднощів було дотримання 10 %- ої норми щодо прийому осіб юдейського віросповідання, якої змушена була дотримуватися Педагогічна рада під час прийому курсисток. Окремо проаналізовано стан навчального процесу в період студентських хвилювань восени–взимку 1910–1911 рр. та заходи, ужиті викладацьким складом для запобігання можливим страйкам і порушенням громадського порядку. Наведені цитати дають змогу простежити рефлексію осіб, причетних до заснування курсів. Представлені факти доповнюють краєзнавчі дослідження з історії освіти в Одесі, а також загалом історії вищої жіночої медичної освіти на українських землях у добу імперії.

This article examines the opening of the Odesa Higher Women’s Medical Courses in 1910 and analyses the difficulties faced by both the institution’s administration and the female students during their first year of study. It provides details of the opening ceremony held on 26 September 1910, describes the numbers and religious composition of the first cohort of students, and examines their financial circumstances and the challenges of funding the courses. Attention is drawn to the fact that one of the causes of financial difficulties was the requirement to adhere to a 10% quota for the admission of female students of the Jewish faith, which the Pedagogical Council was obliged to observe when admitting students. A separate analysis is provided of the state of the educational process during the period of student protests in the autumn–winter of 1910–1911, and the measures taken by the teaching staff to prevent possible strikes and disturbances of public order. The citations provided allow us to trace the reflections of those involved in the establishment of the courses. The facts presented supplement local history research on the history of education in Odesa, as well as the broader history of higher women’s medical education in the Ukrainian lands during the imperial era. New materials from fond No. 62, ‘Odesa Higher Women’s Medical Courses’, of the State Archives of the Odesa Region have been introduced into academic circulation.
