Pregnancy is a time of rapid weight gain.
According to the recommendations, weight gain during pregnancy
should be between 5 and 18 kg, depending on the woman's prepregnancy body mass index (BMI). Studies show that many women gain
2-5 kg after each subsequent pregnancy. Therefore, pregnancy and the
postpartum period can be important times to prevent or treat
overweight or obesity systematically. Approaches to weight
management during pregnancy and the early postpartum period vary in
intensity and methodology. Most of them include diet and/or exercise in
different formats: online, offline or via mobile apps. It is not yet known
which aspects of the intervention or which combination is most
effective. However, prenatal behavioural interventions can be an
important opportunity to prevent obesity at this stage of life through the
woman's ongoing contact with her doctor. It should be noted that the
recommended ranges of gestational higher the risks during pregnancy.
