Xerosis (xeroderma) is a pathological condition of the skin, which is characterized by its dryness and impaired functioning of the sweat and sebaceous glands. Dry skin can be an independent pathology or occur due to dermatological diseases (dermatitis, psoriasis). Xerosis of the skin reduces its protective properties and can contribute to the development of skin diseases (allergic and contact dermatitis). Dry skin can appear at any age, but after 50 years it occurs most often (senile xerosis), as the dermis loses collagen and moisture. |
