<description>OTC-medicines and responsible self-medication under Good Pharmacy Practice
Sushchuk, N. A.
Responsible self-medication is a process by which individuals treat their minor &#13;
illnesses and conditions that are either self-diagnosable or have been previously diagnosed by a &#13;
physician using nonprescription, safe, high-quality medications. Over the counter (OTC) medicines &#13;
are playing an increasingly crucial role in modern healthcare by promoting self-care, managing a &#13;
broad spectrum of minor illnesses, and reducing the burden on healthcare systems. According to &#13;
the requirements of the International Standard of Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), the pharmacist &#13;
plays a key role in ensuring effective pharmacotherapy. This role includes the management of drug &#13;
therapy, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and providing patients with evidence-based &#13;
information on the rational use of medicines. In addition, the pharmacist should assess the patient’s &#13;
health status and individual needs, taking into account personal characteristics and clinical factors.

<description>Research on the role of pharmacists in overcoming the problem of antibiotic resistance
Stepanova, O.; Bielyaieva, O.; Pietkova, I.; Yashchuk, I.; Koreisha, M.
One of the most serious global threats to health and security is the spread of infectious diseases. In developing countries, infectious diseases are the leading cause of animal disease and account for more than 60% of the total human disease burden, posing a significant health risk to both humans and animals. The article substantiates the expediency of improving consumer information counselling during the dispensing of antibiotics and defines the role of pharmacists in an interdisciplinary team working to overcome the problem of antibiotic resistance. Based on the data obtained, recommendations have been developed for pharmacists to optimise the practical aspects of dispensing antibacterial drugs, improve communication with patients and increase their adherence to the rational use of antibiotics.

<title>Probiotic sanitation of the abdominal cavity in the treatment of disseminated peritonitis</title>
<link>https://repo.odmu.edu.ua:443/xmlui/handle/123456789/18302</link>
<description>Probiotic sanitation of the abdominal cavity in the treatment of disseminated peritonitis
Karol, I. V.; Bilyayeva, O. O.; Кароль, І. В.; Біляєва, О. О.
The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of probiotic sanitation of the abdominal cavity in the treatment of disseminated&#13;
peritonitis.&#13;
Materials and methods. The study included 98 patients with disseminated peritonitis. Patients were divided into 3 groups. Group I (main&#13;
group) included 31 patients in whom the abdominal cavity was cleaned with a 5% solution of probiotic disinfectant. Group II (comparison&#13;
group) consisted of 32 patients, in whom the abdominal cavity was cleaned with a solution of the sorbent “Enterosgel”. Group III (placebo&#13;
control group) included 35 patients in whom the abdominal cavity was cleaned with 0.9% NaCl solution. In order to determine the level of&#13;
intoxication and the dynamics of peritonitis, we determined the functional activity of phagocytic cells of peripheral blood.&#13;
Results. Sanitation of the abdominal cavity with probiotic disinfectants in patients of Group I caused a decrease in the manifestations&#13;
of endogenous intoxication already on the 3rd day of the study. These trends contributed to the optimization of the functional activity of&#13;
neutrophil granulocytes and their bactericidal properties. A tendency to restore the function of monocytes was established. In patients of Group&#13;
II, a positive dynamic of the studied indicators was noted on day 7 of the study. While in patients of Group III, these changes did not have a&#13;
clearly pronounced positive dynamic throughout the study.&#13;
Conclusions. The study showed that the use of probiotic disinfectants for the sanitation of the abdominal cavity is an effective treatment&#13;
for disseminated peritonitis, which significantly improves the treatment outcomes of such patients.; Дослідження включило 98 пацієнтів з розповсюдженим перитонітом, які були розподілені на 3 групи. В групу І (основну)&#13;
увійшов 31 пацієнт, якому санацію черевної порожнини проводили 5% розчином пробіотичного дезінфектанту, групу ІІ (групу&#13;
порівняння) становили 32 пацієнти, санацію проводили розчином сорбенту «Ентеросгель». В групу ІІІ (плацебо-контроль) увійшли&#13;
35 пацієнтів, яким санацію проводили 0,9% розчином NaCl. Визначали функціональну активність фагоцитуючих клітин. У хворих&#13;
групи І зниження проявів ендогенної інтоксикації виявили вже на 3-тю добу дослідження. У хворих групи ІІ позитивна динаміка&#13;
досліджуваних показників відзначалася на 7-му добу дослідження. Тоді як у хворих групи ІІІ такі зміни не мали чітко вираженої&#13;
позитивної динаміки.

<title>Strategies for addressing polypharmacy issue in Ukraine</title>
<link>https://repo.odmu.edu.ua:443/xmlui/handle/123456789/15498</link>
<description>Strategies for addressing polypharmacy issue in Ukraine
Dekkaki, Kh.; Stepanova, O.; Bielyaieva, O.
Polypharmacy is a pressing issue in clinical medicine due to the increasing use of medications from various pharmacological groups. According to numerous studies, polypharmacy is defined as the concurrent use of five or more medications. It is most commonly observed in patients with chronic diseases and comorbidities, as well as in the elderly. With aging, both pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics changes occur in the body's response to medications. After the age of 45, the functional capacities of most systems and organs gradually decline. Drug interactions can not only alter their effectiveness but also pose potential risks of adverse effects, especially when medications are taken with food, beverages, or other drugs. The aim of this study was to analyze modern approaches to the analysis of drug interactions in the practical realm of healthcare provided by physicians and pharmacists.
